  2. Pastor Dave Harrison's contract terms were changed to facilitate his official role of Senior Pastor from January 1st, 2022; with David O'Brien to move into the Co-Pastor role.

  3. All positions up for election were returned; including new deacons in Bethany B and Anthony S. and the re-election of James J and Rod K (both as deacons) returning after a sabbatical.

  4. Continued faithful support of church family has maintained a positive financial position despite Covid-19.

Satellite Gatherings

Current as of 26th October, 2021

Want to gather with your WBC family on Sunday but aren’t fully vaccinated?

We are organising gatherings at people homes to watch the livestream and worship together for those who can’t attend the church building due to the covid vaccination restrictions. If you are interested in getting together with some of your WBC family on Sunday mornings please contact me and I will pass on the details. The first of these will be this Sunday the 31st of October.

For those people for are fully vaccinated we hope to catch up with you at the church building. Let’s remember each other as we struggle through this difficult situation.

My phone number is on the church newsletter (church secretary) and my email is is the church directory.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. - Hebrews 10:24–25

Grace and Peace,

Resuming In-person Services

Current as of 18th November, 2021

The Victorian government has placed requirements on all those who are responsible for gatherings such as restaurateurs, managers of workplaces, retailers, and even churches. The rules apply equally for us as a church, and our insurers have indicated that Public Liability Insurance is void if Government requirements are not followed.

At the October Council meeting, it was unanimously decided that we must open up the church as soon as we can for worship and fellowship within the guidelines provided by government. This will ‘break the drought’ as we are all starved of face-to-face fellowship and yearn to gather together again. But, sadly, only those who have been fully vaccinated will be allowed to gather in person in our morning service.

Under the requirements we will have to confirm vaccination status of those attending. Most of you will be able to link your Covid vaccination status to your mobile phones, and if not, a certificate can be obtained from the Australian Immunisation Register (1800 653 809); other online ways are available.

From November 18th, 11:59pm, rule changes means mean we can have any number of people inside the building so long as everyone above the age of 12 is fully vaccinated. We will have to confirm vaccination status upon entry. If you are fully vaccinated, feel free to join us this Sunday from 9:30am.

We are allowed to have 50 persons of unknown vaccination status meet outside, with a 1 per 4 sq.m. density limit. Should the weather be reasonable, there can be seating on the front porch, with screen and sound.
Update 25th Nov - this may be moved to the Long Room, density-capped at 15.

For ministries that meet on other days wishing to recommence, restrictions mean that up to 50 persons of unknown or mixed vaccinations tatus may gather; the 4sq.m. rule will still apply.

Hopefully, these restrictions will only be for a short time as we long to be all together again. We will continue to stream services so that any who are prevented by Government requirements from attending can be as connected as possible.

We seek to love and honour our God and one another as we travel together through these challenging circumstances. Everyone is valued by Him; no one is excluded from His grace and salvation, and we wish to affirm that everyone is valued and everyone’s right to their own opinion is respected.

The Pastoral Team is available to listen to your concerns. Please be in prayer as we walk ahead together.

Streaming the Service

To stream the service you simply need to open your browser on your internet connected phone, computer or smart TV and type in the address: https://livestream.waverleybaptist.org.au.

The stream will of course be live; the sermon will be available later on the website as usual and some components, like children's talks, may be uploaded to the Waverley Baptist Church Facebook Group.

If you don't have a Facebook account you will have to create one if you want to access the service at a later time. It is a relatively simple process to download the app on your smartphone or go to www.facebook.com on your internet enabled computer and create a new account. You can keep it very simple and not input much information if you are new.

Once you have a Facebook 'page', find the 'Groups' button and when on the groups page search for "Waverley Baptist Church" and apply to join. The moderator will check your identity and authorise you. Then you can see any live streams for about a week. The live streams are in a column on the right hand side of a computer display (elsewhere on a smartphone) near the Church website address, or can also be found hashtag #pastservices.

If you need help call Don McGilvery or Jeremy Cosham (phone numbers are in the Church Directory) - or any computer literate friend can probably help you!
