What We Do

Girls’ Brigade Waverley meets at Waverley Baptist Church on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 8:30 pm (arrival from 6:45 pm) during the school term. Girls are divided into four different age groups (known as units), and a typical company night includes games, a devotion, a special activity and a craft or project, all of which go towards completing achievements to earn badges. Girls are welcome to visit for a trial period of up to six weeks. At Waverley, the Cadets and Juniors units are combined for the time being, and we do not currently run a Pioneers unit.

Cadets

Cadets are girls in Prep to Grade 2 (usually 4-8 years old). The Cadet program is designed to be adventurous, energetic, engaging and full of togetherness and fun. Girls investigate key Christian concepts and build critical physical and emotional skills. Cadets complete at least three Cadet achievements to earn a star badge in a year.

Juniors

Juniors are girls in Grades 3-5 (usually 7-11 years old). The Junior program is full of energy and exploration and invites girls to engage with an action-packed range of experiences and skills to develop characteristics and values which will be good foundations for their lives. Juniors complete at least two Junior achievements to earn a circle badge in a year.

Seniors

Seniors are girls in Grades 6-8 (usually 10-14 years old). The Senior program has an especial focus on providing a firm Christian foundation and support system for girls as they encounter life skills and life issues at the beginning of adolescence. Seniors complete at least two Senior achievements to earn a rectangle badge in a year.

Pioneers

Pioneers are girls in Years 9-11 (usually 13-18 years old). The Pioneer program inspires girls to see how God can be involved in all that they do, and participants are encouraged to make their own decisions about content, pace and engagement. Pioneers complete at least one Pioneer achievement to earn a triangle badge in a year.
